Skin Care Advice ow to Reduce Scars

Hi I'm Kim with Simply Beautiful in Austin, Texas. Let's talk about how to reduce scarring. There are lots of different ways to reduce scarring. You can go to the dermatologist and they have lazer treatments that will help reduce scarring. You can go to the drug store and get scarring cream and those work really really well. The problem with those are that you have to apply them quite often during the day for them to stay. I have one here and I have a little scar right here on my arm and I'm just going to apply some cream to it and this is an anti scarring cream. You can see it is really emollient. It, another way to say that is it is kind of watery and what we are going to do is just put it right on the scar, rub it and you want to do it two to three times a day. The problem with that is it is going to get on your clothes and as soon as it is on your clothes it is going to rub right off so the more you do it the faster that scar will fade. Vitamin E works really really well. If you are in the process of healing you want to keep Vitamin E on it and keep sunscreen on it because most of the time when you have scarring it is darker than the area around it and if you keep a sun screen on you'll see that that doesn't happen as often. The sunscreen blocks the sun from getting into the skin. When the skin heals the melanin is healed into the skin so keep your sunscreen on, put anti scarring cream on it that you can get at the drug store. You can get a skin lightener just about anywhere and that might help to lighten the darkness of the scar or try Vitamin E. Your best choice is to keep it from scarring with good maintenance of any open broken skin, sunscreen, Vitamin E, Coco Butter, antibiotics, get it healed as quickly as possible.
