Welcome and thank you for joining me. I'm Gerry Oginski, a New York medical malpractice and personal injury trial lawyer practicing law here in the state of New York. You know, while I was preparing for this video shoot and setting up my equipment, I was thinking about a client that I represented not too long ago. It was a gentleman who had a shoulder injury and went into the hospital to get it fixed. Unfortunately for him, the doctors failed to recognize that he had a significant problem with his shoulder and as a result suffered a horrible nerve injury to the arm that made his arm almost useless โ€“ it caused his arm to wither away. In addition, he needed multiple surgeries where they had to literally open his entire shoulder and under his arm and his arm itself. And when he came to me for the very first time and I saw his scars, I was shocked. And I thought to myself, why does he all these scars and why is he so disfigured? During the course of manipulating this young man's shoulder to put it back into the socket, what happened was that a blood supply became injured. Now that's not malpractice. What happened here is the doctors failed to recognize that this blood collection was now compressing a nerve in this young man's arm that was causing him symptoms. And as a result of that, he suffered permanent injury. And in despite taking the patient back to the operating room on an emergent basis to try and relieve and get out the fluid that had collected to release the nerve, unfortunately it was too late for him. So why do I tell you all this? Because you may be walking down the street one day and find that somebody has a significant scar, they have what looks like a significant โ€“ what looks like a horrible trauma, maybe they were in an accident. And you may be thinking to yourself, why are they like this? If you have a disfigurement or significant scarring, that's visible to somebody walking down the street, you may encounter social rejection. People may not want to hang out with you, they may be afraid to talk to you, they might not understand why you have these injuries, and as a result of that you may be a social outcast without even realizing it. And if that's the case, I strongly encourage you to have them explore my website โ€“ which is right here at Oginski-law.com. Take a look at that; have them take a look at it. And if they have specific legal questions, then I urge you to have them call me because I can answer their legal questions. They can reach me at 516-487-8207 or by email at lawmed10@yahoo.com. I'm Gerry Oginski, here in New York. I want to thank you for joining me here for a few moments of your time. Have a great day!
