Makeup for Blemishes & Acne Scars ow to Hide Redness on Your Face

Hi, I'm Kelli. On behalf of Expert Village I'm going to talk to you about concealing acne today. Redness can be caused by a couple different factors. Rosacea, which is sort of a form of acne, can cause alot of redness on the skin. Rosacea, you really need to be being treated by a dermatologist, if you do have rosacea. But there are a few things that you can do to neutralize the redness. Alot of times a person with rosacea you'll see alot of redness really in the cheek area, or in the nose area, and sometimes that can be characterized with very large blemishes in that area too. It's usually more of whiteheads, which are basically little pustules that come to the surface. There's a couple of things you can do to really help soothe the redness. Make sure you're using products that have anti-inflammatory in it such as chamomile or aloe. Those are really great. Make sure you're using oil free products as well. You don't want to put anything with a mineral oil base on rosacea, because that's just going to make it more inflamed. Definitely avoid spicy foods and wine. That can make the redness flare up as well. And you also want to make sure before you apply your foundation, you use either a green based concealer, or a green based foundation primer, because that will really help neutralize the redness. If you think in terms of the color wheel, green is the complimentry color to red, so when you put those two together, they neutralize each other. And if you do that, you will have a much more even tone, and you won't have to work so hard to get your make-up to cover the redness.
