We often think of acne as a teen disease. We know that maybe a third of the patients seen by dermatologists are adult women. Women in their 20s or 30s who have developed acne recently. They didn't have anything as teens. They are probably another sub-type of acne, often along the jawline. It's more hormonally driven. I think that they need special attention. Their skin is much more sensitive. It's much more difficult for the adult women to accept the retinoids and the benzoyl peroxide, the potentially irriating products are tough for their skin to accept so we need to have a different type of approach for these individuals.
