Makeup for Blemishes & Acne Scars ow to Prepare Your Face for Makeup

Hi, I'm Kelli on behalf of Expert Village and I'm gonna talk to you about concealing acne today. I'm gonna talk a little bit about the preparation of the skin before you apply the makeup. You want to make sure that you have clean skin. Usually a gel-based cleanser is best for an acne-prone skin. It helps to keep the pores really nice and clean, helps to pull the dirt and the impurities out of the pores. So after you wash your face, you want to use lukewarm water..nothing too hot. Just pat it dry really gently with a towel. Try to avoid using scrubs or anything to that nature. Scrubs can be really abrasive on the skin, especially if you scrub over a blemish. You tend to rip up the bacteria and spread it to different parts of the skin. Also, at this point in time, is when you want to apply your acne medication. Like I said before the salicylic acid works very well for the blackhead and the whiteheads and you would want to use more of a benzyl peroxide product for the cystic acne. After you apply the acne medication, you would want to use an oil-free moisturizer. Really make sure that you're only applying oil-free products to the face. If you have a product that contains any oil, this is going to lead to clogging and other form of breakout. There's a couple things that you can really do to with your skin care to make sure your face stays clear. Just by keeping it clean by using anti-bacterial products, exfoliating, like when you're using a salicydic acid product. That's exfoliating the skin in a non-abrasive way...using oil-free products and using non-comdeogenic products. And if you do that before applying the makeup, you're going to have a more even texture and tone. You won't have as much flakiness and your makeup will therefore look a lot better because great makeup starts with great skin.
