Hi I am Kelli and on behalf of Expert Village I am going to talk to you about concealing acne today. Discolorations can be caused by many different things. Acne scarring primarily comes when you either have squeezed or picked a postule or have picked an acne scab off and then it is exposed to UV light. The UV light will discolor that area. Usually it will turn it a purple or bluish color. There are some products on the market that can lighten those discolorations. Hydrochinan is a main ingredient that you will find in these products and that will help go in and break up the discoloration, bring it to the surface, exfoliate and get rid of it. Hormones also can play a big role in discolorations. Pregnancy mask is one thing that you will usually find in the lip area, usually it turns a brownish color. Again hydrochinan is an ingredient that you can use to lighten that up but you definitely want to make sure you are not using it while you are pregnant. Your dermatologist can definitely direct you in a way that you could treat it while you are still pregnant. Another form of discoloration can be sun damage. Usually this occurs when basically melanocytes which are the pigment producing mechanisms within the cells shoot up melanin which gives our skin the color. If you have a melanocyte within a cell that is overproducing melanin, that is when you start to see the brownish discolorations. Sometimes this might not show up for a number of years. If you were a sun worshipper as a child and you were not good about using sun protection, you can maybe not notice it showing up for 20 to 30 years but it is deep down in the surface of the skin. Hydrochinan is an ingredient that you can use to lighten that up as well. One thing I would like to say is that when you are using hydrochinan that you are using a high SPF with UVA and UVB protection because if you are investing and trying to lighten the discolorations on the skin you want to make sure you are protecting that investment with an SPF.
