(music) while many of us see acne is a mild and temporary symptom of being a teenager the reality is that for twenty million americans it's a serious condition that can cause scarring and persist through adulthood prescription medications used for treating severe acne can have very serious side effects and don't always work so i'm going to show Nicole who has suffered from acne for more than ten years and essential oil blend that will help to balance her skin and keep her acne at bay so, Nicole you told me that you've been dealing with the challenges of acne since you were ten (yes, i have) and aromatherapy essential oils certainly offers a great option for treatment from the outside in (yeah) so i want to share with you the chemistry of these oils and how they work, THYME LINALOL is really an aromatherapy specialty oil it's this beautiful organic chemistry blend of alcohols and esters making it very gentle the second is particular kind of type of rosemary called ROSEMARY VERBENONE we're using rosemary verbenone in this blend because rosemary is known for getting deeper into the dermal layers of the skin and helping with cell regeneration the third oil is NOROLI Noroli is the third essential oil comes from the orange blossom of the bitter orange tree and then the last oil is a particular type of lavender called SPIKE LAVENDER one of the things that you smell that makes spike lavender stronger is that it has a camphor-esque note so you get the anti-inflammatory effects of the lavender and you get the healing aspects that the camphor offers so i'm going to have you do this blend we're going to use three drops of the thyme linalol you can just rely on gravity it'll come out drop by drop we're only going to use one drop of rosemary verbenone the orange blossom or the neroli is one of those oils that you can actually use undiluted on your skin and is very gentle so we're going to use six drops in this blend, plus it smells so good (yeah) three drops of the spike lavender now the base oil that we're going to use for this is hazelnut oil and we're just going to fill up this bottle with the hazelnut oil for our base and then just cap it we just want to roll the bottle so why don't you just put a little bit on your your hand and tell me what you think of the texture and tell me what you think of the scent wow, that smells good! it's very light not as fragrant as I thought I was a little worried about something so close to the nose that it would be overwhelmingly pungent but i absolutely had no clue that this would be antimicrobial or antibacterial and could actually go and work with the systemic problems that i've have i realize now that aromatherapy has a lot more potential to help me with my acne than i thought i like to know that i can use instead of the lotion and it's not going to make my skin like overly greasy (music)
